Fun times at gimli quilt retreat

It's already been a month since our quilt retreat in Gimli, Manitoba! We had a really great time, I think there were 25 of us, celebrating 20 years of quilting together! The weather was pretty good, it was quite windy but I managed 3 little walks along the beach to collect beach glass.

These are some photos of the beach and harbour area...

The women who organized this years weekend put together some pretty amazing prizes, including a collection of batik fat quarters, which I won!

Here are some fantastic women and their beautiful quilts!

Felted wool projects

As it starts to get colder, I like to get some felted wool projects ready to work on in the winter. I like to do blanket stitching will I watch cheesy shows like American Idol on TV.

I've wanted to make a wallhanging of our house for quite awhile so I finally designed this one that I will work on this winter.

I've also been having lots of fun making these felt pins with my scraps.
It started off with two and has been growing!

These are what I have made so far! Wish I could rotate this photo but I don't know how!

Summer fair entries

This August it was time to enter some items again in the St. Vital Agricultural Fair. My friend Mona came in from Vancouver, again and my niece and nephews and even my mom entered for the first time. We all won some ribbons and a little cash.

My felted wool wallhanging won a third place ribbon.

Mona's quilted wall hanging got a second.

My mosaic won a third place.

My mom's pillow won a third place.

I won first place for this photo, taken near Climax, Saskatchewan.

I won a first place for this photo I took of my peonies in my backyard.
My niece won second prize for her watercolour.

My nephews won some ribbons for their drawings!

Some summer fun things

We went to Climax, Saskatchewan for a family reunion August. The family, food and fellowship were amazing. The scenery in the Frenchman River Valley incredible, not many trees, south coulees and valleys.

My niece turned 11 this summer. We always make her cake together, she designs it, I bake it and we decorated it together. This year she wanted a three tier cake!

It turned out pretty good! My nephews then decided they needed to make cakes even though their birthdays aren't until November.

And one last cake I made and decorated this summer!
